About the original:ThePeacockLibrary Lamp was made in New York, sometime between 1902 and 1910. It was created by Tiffany Studios under the artistic direction of Louis C. Tiffany. The piece is made of glass, cut and assembled with copper foil; cast and patinated bronze with blown glass and glass inlay. It measures 27 1/2 x 18 inches. N.86.GL.07a,b; N.86.P.15. The peacock was a wildly popular design motif in the early 1900s, when this magnificentPeacockLibrary Lamp was made. While most Tiffany lampshades and bases could be mixed and matched, this lamp was designed as a single unit, entirely devoted to celebrating the birds iconic plumage. The expressive shade features a swirling rainbow of glass peacock feathers. Below, graceful bronze plumes sweep down the length of the rare blown-glass base, and iridescent glass inlay suggests each feathers shimmering eye.
